By eliminating one&#8217;s own negative causes, the negative causes of others will naturally be eliminated as well; by eliminating the negative causes of others, the collective negative causes of the masses can also be averted. This is precisely why teaching, transforming, and saving others stands as the absolute priority among all meritorious deeds.<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a9a51eb e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"a9a51eb\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ee07c21 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ee07c21\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t4. The reason we speak of the visible and the invisible is ultimately nothing other than the human mind itself. If this mind is genuinely dedicated to relief, salvation, and transformation, then visible, tangible calamities can certainly be dissolved with ease, and invisible, intangible calamities can likewise be neutralized into nothingness because of this. When one person creates ill or negative causes, the multitude masses also follow that example too &#8211; then the entire universe and cosmos [<\/em><em>\u5927\u5343\u4e16\u754c<\/em><em>] will inevitably descend into utter chaos before it ends. There is no other reason for this: the one who creates the cause is the one who \u201cfirst carved the funerary figure\u201d [<\/em><em>\u4f5c\u4fd1\u8005<\/em><em>] &#8211; the instigator whose example all that follows takes its shape from. A Hair&#8217;s Breadth Apart; the Paradox of Great Merit \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-12bfc97 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"12bfc97\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><em>From this, know that the cultivation of merit and the nurturing of attainment <\/em><em>means that every single place is an opportunity for meritorious deeds, and yet every single place is also a potential calamity; the difference lies only on <\/em><em>the finest hair&#8217;s breadth. If one can truly discern down to the subtlest detail, then in every word and every deed, every gesture and every movement <\/em><em>becomes an immense, formless monument of merit. One who achieves the greatest merit appears to possess no merit at all.\u00a0 The profound mystery within this can only be realized by the cultivator through their own self-awakening.<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-900afa0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"900afa0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><em>\u70ba\u5927\u529f\u884c\u8005\u6108\u7121\u529f\u884c<\/em><em> echoes the Daodejing&#8217;s paradoxical register (<\/em><em>\u4e0a\u5fb7\u4e0d\u5fb7\uff0c\u662f\u4ee5\u6709\u5fb7<\/em><em>, ch. 38: \u201csuperior virtue does not regard itself as virtue, and so it truly possesses virtue\u201d).<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2803c28 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"2803c28\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a8e0cae elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a8e0cae\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t7. Yielding to Others in All Things \u2014 Save One \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4b635d9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4b635d9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><em>As for one who grows arrogant over a single good deed, or proud over a single word &#8211; not only is this contrary to the Dao, but it will prevent one from taking a single step forward it in the ordinary business of daily life. Thus, the cultivator regards yielding to others [<\/em><em>\u8b93\u4eba<\/em><em>] to be the highest noble virtue; and yet, <\/em><em>they must never yield when it comes to cultivating merits and virtues<\/em><em> [<\/em><em>\u529f\u884c<\/em><em>]. There, too, lies a profound principle and truth within this.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-33b385d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"33b385d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><em>\u77dc<\/em><em>\/<\/em><em>\u9a55<\/em><em> (arrogance\/pride) here are the same two of the \u201cfour root faults\u201d [<\/em><em>\u77dc\u8e81\u504f\u6025<\/em><em>] <\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-be5923a e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"be5923a\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a3529d5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a3529d5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t8. Before Calamity Descends &#8211; Seeking It Out with a Sincere Heart \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ba4b49c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ba4b49c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><em>Today, when the great kalpic calamity approaches, no one can see it; when a great disaster descends, no one is able to perceive it<\/em><em>.\u00a0 If people only realize it after the disaster has already struck<\/em><em> &#8211; such a one is what is called an \u201cordinary (mediocre)person\u201d [<\/em><em>\u5eb8\u4eba<\/em><em>]. Therefore, one must <\/em><em>understand the underlying causes before the catastrophe occurs, and only then can one comprehend the truth of why it happens through both the visible and the invisible. This requires nothing else but to seek it with absolute sincerity of mind.<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e42393e e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"e42393e\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-475c518 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"475c518\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t9. Cultivating the Heart \u2014 From Oneself to the Multitude \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-53e86e3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"53e86e3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><em>The cultivator cultivates precisely this: the heart-mind. <\/em><em>This is something all disciples know. You must rely on the natural state of your own heart-mind for your spiritual nourishment. You must rely on the natural state of your own mind for your spiritual nourishment. Only then can all disasters and catastrophes &#8211; both tangible and intangible &#8211; be averted through you, extending to others, and further reaching to all sentient beings and multitudes across the vast universe and cosmos.<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c6019f7 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"c6019f7\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5d0b11c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5d0b11c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t10. Sudden Wind and Driving Rain &#8211; Too Late to Dig the Well \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-35983e3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"35983e3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><em>Judging by recent disasters and catastrophes, they may seem of no great consequence or insignificant at first.\u00a0 But when they strike, their force and momentum is fiercely violent, taking less than a single day, just like howling winds and sudden torrential rains. If one does take precautions and not mend the roof before the rain<\/em><em> comes [<\/em><em>\u672a\u96e8\u7da2\u7e46<\/em><em>],<\/em><em> they will inevitably find themselves digging a well only when they are already parched <\/em><em>[<\/em><em>\u81e8\u6e34\u6398\u4e95<\/em><em>],<\/em><em> utterly at a loss for what to do. By that time, even saving oneself is impossible, let alone saving others, and let alone neutralizing the catastrophe entirely.<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7a9abaf e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"7a9abaf\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2abed89 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2abed89\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t11. When these two proceed and run parallel without conflicting contradiction, then when a great kalpic catastrophe arrives, it can hopefully be mitigated naturally. If the disciples can manage affairs wisely and conduct themselves well during this time &#8211; whether by preparing meritorious deeds in advance, practicing seated meditation and chanting beforehand, using their personal strength to safeguard the foundation, or using their strength to further its development and expand it &#8211; these are all essentials of cultivating merits, and they are matters that each individual should plan for well in advance.<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7605adb e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"7605adb\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4cbdd37 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4cbdd37\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t13. If you can truly respond to this pivotal moment by cultivating merits, then disasters and catastrophes can absolutely be averted while still in their invisible, formless state. To act naturally means to perform deeds according to one&#8217;s own capacity; if you do so, the concept of &#8216;meritorious deed&#8217; will inherently contain inexhaustible, boundless, subtle pivots. Let each of you respond to this subtle opportunity, conduct yourselves well and manage things wisely, the accumulation of your meritorious deeds will inevitably become inconceivable.
