Preface - The Document and Its Layers

The 星洲道院開幕紀念刊 is a multi-layered founding record comprising four distinct but interlocking planchette messages received across several sessions at the opening of the Singapore Dao Yuan in the autumn of 1936. Together they constitute a complete charter: the inaugural address of The Most Holy One (the primary cosmological and philosophical message); the Five Institutional Instructions with their embedded technical notes; the secondary planchette transmissions to individual officers (智真鸞訓, 智生智元智發智情鸞訓); and the closing compassion gāthā and plum-blossom verse of Buddha Ji and the continuation transmission. This document is an integrated analysis that examines every layer in full, maps their interrelations, and demonstrates the single coherent vision that runs through all.

The formal heading of the primary session reads: 丙子年九月廿二日星洲道院開幕申刻統科 – ‘Bingzi Year, 9th Month, 22nd Day: Singapore Dao Yuan Opening, at the 申刻 Hour.’ The term 統科 signals that what follows is not informal transmission but an official institutional record of the highest intent. The scribe for the planchette is identified as 海一侍.
